At NHS Nottinghamshire we have responsibility for managing the local
NHS in Nottinghamshire County (excluding Bassetlaw). Our core purpose
is to improve the health and well being of the 650,000 people in our
area by planning and paying for services to meet their needs.
In 2007/08 we spent more than £770million planning and paying for
healthcare for local people. We do this by commissioning services from:
- GP practices
- Dental practices
- Opticians
- Pharmacists
- Community healthcare providers
- Hospital trusts
- Mental health care providers
- Independent providers
- Voluntary providers
We work to improve the general health of local people through advice
and schemes to help individuals lead healthier lifestyles and manage
their own health better.
