Strong and cohesive communities are a key priority for Nottinghamshire. We want our communities to thrive and to have a shared set of values and sense of purpose. We want to support and develop individuals who are prepared to take on civic responsibilities for the benefit of the locality, who feel able to influence decisions which affect their area, and who are keen to take on voluntary work opportunities for the benefit of their community.
We want to encourage individuals and their communities to engage in sporting and cultural activity, and to support them in developing a wide range of community and voluntary sector organisations.
As a particular priority, we want to ensure the participation of young people in education, training and employment. Furthermore, we will strengthen the voice of older people as citizens, who are both major users of public services and contribute largely to the voluntary sector.
